Southern Albanian city Korça to hold international carnival festival

The Southern Albania city of Korca will open this year’s tourist season with the International Carnival Festival which will begin on June 7, ATSH news agency reported on Wednesday.

Besides carnival groups from Korca and other cities of the country, the festival of international proportions will bring to the city carnivals from the Balkan region.

With the slogan “Korca, city of celebrations”, the Municipality offers a complete package of festive events which bring to the city a considerable number of visitors.

The touristic season in the mountain resort town, culminates each year in August with the Beer Festival, in 2014 from August 13 to 17.

Korca is one of the first cities in Balkan that re-awakened the carnival tradition, established in 1992, by the Association of Carnival as part of the National Association of Albanian Carnival.

The First International Festival of Carnival in Albania was held for the first time in Korca in 1994.
