MTV UK seem surprised that British-Albanian star, Rita Ora, is appearing in a new fashion campaign for Marks & Spencer. As they put it: “Rita Ora is known for her eclectic style but we never thought we’d see the singer in good old M&S!”
The Kosovan-born blonde gives her best ‘Blue Steel’ in a new campaign for the high street retailer alongside top model Alex Wek, actress Emma Thompson and Eurythmics singer Annie Lennox. Fashion East creator Lulu Kennedy, TV chef Rachel Khoo and campaigner Baroness Lawrence also star in the ad.
It’s not the first time that triple threat Rita – who sings and acts – has flexed her modelling muscles. She’s previously posed for DKNY, walked the runway for Moschino and has just announced a collaboration with Adidas. So it’s no wonder Marks and Sparks snapped her up for their ‘leading ladies’ campaign.
In an accompanying video, the fashion-forward females discuss what style means to them and Rita reveals: “And yeah I wear crazy clothes sometimes and I look back and I’m like, OK, that was definitely a phase, but at the end of the day I love it, I have such a great time with it.”
The singer added: “I don’t feel like you should be afraid of wearing something just because you wouldn’t usually wear it.”
