The Nominees:
“Ave Maria,” “Day One,” “Everything Will Be Okay (Alles Wird Gut),” “Shok,” “Stutterer.” The winner: “Stutterer”.

Irish short film Stutterer has taken home the Oscar for Best Short Film (Live Action) at the 88th Academy Awards, although with its war-torn setting, heavy themes, and tragic conclusion, “Shok” just felt more like an Oscar winner.

British Ambassador to Kosovo, Ruairí O’Connell, said: “Our film didn’t win today. But sometimes my Kosovan friends do something that makes me feel privileged to be the British Ambassador to Kosovo. When the Best Live Short winner was announced, the room broke and in cheers and applause. Applause for the winner. And cheers for the amazing achievement of creating a film like Shok that gave the world the sense of life in Kosovo in 1998. And thanks to that moment, I’m feeling happy.”
