He fled from Kosovo as a teenager after his family were persecuted and murdered in the war.
But Baton Berisha found a new home in London’s restaurant scene and is now the man behind the burgeoning success of The Ivy Collection – set to open it’s 32nd location in Canary Wharf this month.
“I came alone with nobody here and it was a different world for me,” said the 37-year-old of his “daunting” start in the capital.
“I had to jump in and do a job so I started doing whatever I found. But then I discovered I could make a career out of restaurants so I got into it more seriously and the rest is history.
“It has been quite a journey.”
