Two English teenagers killed an Albanian father-of-three after throwing a marine distress flare into his car while he was asleep.
Vilson Meshi died after inhaling fire fumes on February 27, 2016, when the stolen flare was pushed into his Audi, which was parked in Pitsea, Essex.
He was intending to see his children the next day and was parked outside their mother’s home.
A jury found Keani Hobbs, 18, and a 16-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons, guilty of manslaughter at Chelmsford Crown Court.
Paul Scothern, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said: ‘A marine distress flare burns at an incredibly high temperature and the consequence of throwing a lit flare into an enclosed space such as the car where Mr Meshi was asleep was shocking; tragically he died as a result.
The English teens who committed this horrible crime will be sentenced today.
