The inspiration for the beautiful L.K.Bennett limited edition Zoja flat collection came from the hand embroideries of Kosovo, where Women for Women International has been operating since 1999.
Each heart was created by one of our programme graduates in Kosovo’s capital city, Pristina. Available for a limited time only, 100% of the proceeds from this inspiring collection supports our work with women survivors of war. Show your support by shopping with purpose today.
This exciting collaboration combines the traditional Kosovar craftsmanship with L.K.Bennett’s know-how of making feminine and elegant footwear. It marks the first time that Women for Women International graduates have helped create a product for the UK market in such a way; a recognition of the exceptional level of marketable skill our programme graduates possess.
“Women for Women International has had an impact on my life in many ways. Being part of the group of women who worked on the L.K.Bennett project is my biggest achievement so far.”
Hana Bunjaku, Women for Women International – Kosovo Programme Graduate
The inspiration for the design came from the hand embroideries of Kosovo; needlework techniques and motifs that commonly decorate Kosovan folk dress and costume, and have a long-standing history in the country. Each heart is hand-embroidered by a group of eight women graduates in Pristina taking around two hours to complete and each uniquely different. The heart symbol is ubiquitous in the world, and was a natural choice to showcase the work that Women for Women International does to bring women together and help them reach their full potential.
“I am delighted that L.K.Bennett is further collaborating with Women for Women International – UK. The creative involvement of Kosovan women from the charity’s programme highlights the spirit of the project and a sense of true partnership.” Darren Topp, CEO L.K.Bennett
