Two nights ago, another successful British-Albanian Lawyers Association event was held in London in collaboration with Doughty Street Chambers. Guest speakers included: ECHR Judge Bianku and Judge Power-Forde who gave excellent presentations on the very current topic of ECHR (European Convention on Human Rights) and Asylum.
It was brilliant to hear from these judges who have several years of experience dealing with some of the most difficult and sensitive cases that have come before the European Court of Human Rights. The audience included: lawyers, law students, academics and staff from both the Albanian and the Kosovo Embassies.
About BALA ( British-Albanian Lawyers Association )
The British-Albanian Lawyers Association evolved from a group, which was established in 2015 by Brikena Muharremi, a London based barrister, in order to promote co-operation between Albanian and British lawyers based in the United Kingdom, Albania and Kosovo with the aim of advancing the knowledge of law, promoting the Rule of Law and access to justice, supporting future generations of lawyers and to improve relations between the legal professions in the United Kingdom, Albania and Kosovo.
The Association was officially launched on 16th January 2016 at the Kosovo Embassy in London under the patronage of the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to the UK and in the presence of lawyers and representatives from Albanian community organisations in the UK.
