Last month, Croydon Radio, interviewed London based pianist Yllka Istrefi, a classical pianist born to parents from Kosovo and Macedonia. She started playing piano very early in life. After time in Israel and after university studying under Benjamin Kaplan she packed her bags and moved to London and studied with him for a further four years.
Since coming to the UK she has had over 200 concerts and performed in many other countries across the world. She has played at many festivals including the Chelsea Schubert Festival, Mozart Piano Sonata Festival and Music Festival of Nations by the Cultural Association Tempietto, in Rome, Italy.
Notable performances in 2013 have been concerts in Norden Farm Arts Centre in Maidenhead, the Fairfield Halls as well as a recital in Italy, in Brezzo di Bedero, organised by the Cultural Association Casa Paolo. She completed her first marathon last October in Amsterdam.
