‘I never thought I would fight my idol Tyson Fury’: Sefer Seferi claims he will be ‘Gypsy King’s’ comeback opponent on June 9 at Manchester Arena
Albanian boxer Sefer Seferi has reportedly revealed he will be the man to face former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in his comeback fight on June 9.
Promoter Frank Warren, who Fury has signed a multi-fight deal with, has not yet confirmed who his opponent is, but according to 20 minutes Seferi has claimed it will be him.
‘This would make a dream come true. I never thought I’d have the chance to stand against Fury – my idol,’ Seferi told them.
I’m very disciplined and always ready for a fight,’ the Macedonian-born boxer – who has won 23 of his 24 professional fights – added.
‘I will not make it easy for Fury. I will try to put pressure on him. Someone has to stand up to him in the build-up.’
Despite Seferi’s claims, Shannon Briggs – who returned to training earlier this year after serving a six-month ban for failing a doping test with elevated testosterone levels – is tipped to be Fury’s first fight after his two-and-a-half year hiatus.
