The Heart of Midlothian Football Club, a Scottish soccer team known as Hearts, confirmed the signing of a star player with fanfare equal to the announcement of a new pope.
A tweet posted by the professional soccer team, heralded the signing of Kosovan forward Donis Avdijaj accompanied by a gif of white smoke coming out of the chimney at the Vatican — the sign that a new pope has been elected.
Kosovo forward Donis Avdijaj has pledged to help solve Hearts’ goalscoring woes after becoming manager Daniel Stendel’s first signing.
The 23-year-old joins on a six-month deal after his Trabzonspor contract was mutually cancelled.
He adds firepower to the Scottish Premiership’s bottom club who have scored just 18 in 21 league games.
“There is no country, no city in the world where I don’t score. I score everywhere,” Avdijaj said.
“This team has more quality than where we are in the table. Now we have to show it.”
