Elizabeth Gowing and Hatemja, her main character from the latest book at the Kosovo Embassy in London, 9th September 2015

On Wednesday (9th September 2015) there was a great event at the Kosovo Embassy London to celebrate ‘The Rubbish-Picker’s Wife; an unlikely friendship in Kosovo’, Elizabeth Gowning’s new book, and to raise money for Theideaspartner Ship.

Among the people who attended was also the star of the story, Hatemja.

Yesterday, Elizabeth Gowing, said on her Facebook page: “I’m having breakfast with her now, looking at the photos of all the wonderful people who have helped her and Kosovo and she’s asked me to write a message to say ‘thank you. You welcomed me so nicely and you are so kind’.

We are also very proud to announce that the euros and pounds gathered at the event raised £1066.81 for The Ideas Partnership, as well as monthly standing orders set up which offer really valued regular support for our work. Faleminderit to everyone who gave so generously!

And a special thank you to Ambassador Lirim Greiçevci and his staff for making the evening, and Hatemja’s visit to London, possible, and for all the support of his embassy.”
