An Albanian American astronaut, Bill Gregory, who spent 200 hours in space with the mission to install three ultra-violet telescopes in orbit, is the only Albanian who has been in space.
Gregory was one of the guests who helped non-profit organization Brother’s Keeper Outreach, South Lockport in USA, to raise money for their activities by giving autographs. The goal was to raise from $2,000 to $4,000.
“I am probably the fourth most widely-known Albanian,” he smiled. “Mother Teresa being first, John and Jim Belushi came out second and third, so fourth is pretty good.”
His father immigrated to America in 1924 when he was 1 year old.
