Kosovo-born Albanian international midfielder could move to Tottenham after he was told that he can leave Marseille.
Cana, the Marseille captain, is being monitored by Arsenal, Manchester City and Hamburg too.
Cana (25) who is six foot tall has left Kosovo as a child, when wars started in what was then Yugoslavia. Inspired by his father, a former professional footballer as well, he joined Paris St-Germain.
“Arsenal has failed to find a solid, defensive midfielder since Patrick Viera departed the club in 2005. Arsenal also needs someone to partner with captain Cesc Fabregas in the center midfield. Marsielle captain Lorik Cana is a perfect fit” (bleacherreport.com).
Another Albanian footballer, Kosovo born Emir Bajrami, who plays for Sweden has helped Sweden to an impressive 3-1 victory over Serbia on 23rd of June.
‘The Serbian team were aggressive towards Bajrami, and it was amazing to watch a player so calm in the face of hard tackling and repeated verbal provocation. Time after time he’d be scythed down, sworn at, and would simply turn around and walk back to the Swedish bench … Bajrami explained afterwards that he’d expected ”them to be on me from the start, because Kosovo and Serbia have fought many wars” ‘(soccernet.espn.go.com).
Leicester have signed midfielder Astrit Ajdarevic from Liverpool on a one-year contract, an another Albanian International.
The Kosovan-born Swedish youth international finished last season on loan at the Walkers Stadium, making five substitute appearances as Nigel Pearson`s side clinched promotion from League One as champions.
