LSE SU Albanian Society public lecture in association with the LSE SU Economics Society. Date: Friday 6 March 2009, Time: 6:30-8pm Venue: Hong Kong Theatre, Clement House, LSE, WC2A 2AE, Speaker: Gjoke Uldedaj.

An economist by training and with extensive experience in the public as well as the private sector, first as a university professor and then as a very successful businessman, Professor Gjoke Uldedaj is the current President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tirana, Albania.

In his lecture the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tirana, Albania, Professor Gjoke Uldedaj will outline the current situation of economic development in Albania and consider the impacts that the successful reforms undertaken by the Albanian government have had in improving the business climate in the country, and in doing so making Albania an even more attractive place for Foreign Direct Investments(FDIs).

Professor Uldedaj will also consider some of the main challenges that await Albania if it wants to develop at an even higher rate at a time when its main foreign policy objective is to integrate into the Euro-Atlantic structures as soon as possible. Thought concentrating on the most important sectors where the foreign capital could best be deployed, Professor Uldedaj will also shed light on the real chances and opportunities the Albanian economy offers for foreign investors.

And finally Professor Uldedaj will focus also on the services that Tirana’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry offers, pointing out that this institution is a very serious partner for those interested to invest in Albania.
