WEDNESDAY, 27th 7pm-12pm. University of Westminster, 35 Marylebone Rd, London, United Kingdom, NW1 5LS. Entrance: £5.

Civita is a hill town in the Calabria region of southern Italy. It was founded in the 15th century by Albanians. The Civitesi are of an ethnic minority (Arbëreshë) officially recognized by the Italian laws.

The Tuesday of Easter we dance the “Vallja”; a dance in the “piazza” performed in traditional costumes by young and old, who sing in choir the “Vjershe”. The “Vallja” with imaginative developments and sudden movements gets someone from the crowd, preferably “letir” (Italian), who pays at the bar his ransom.

Everyone is welcomed to join us and invite their relatives and friends.

Please dress in black and red or traditional clothes.
Please do not forget to bring IDs.
