Mark Pritchard, A British MP has denied claims he offered to exploit his political contacts in Albania in order to set up business deals.
Mr Pritchard has called the accusations “hurtful and malicious”, but referred himself to the parliamentary standards watchdog to investigate the matter.
The Daily Telegraph claimed the MP for Wrekin, Shropshire, who is a member of the all-party parliamentary group for Albania, told the reporter to invest £10 million in a group of boutique hotels in the country. According to the newspaper, he claimed to have links to officials in the Albania including the mayor, prime minister and the speaker, and Mr Pritchard was set to profit from the prospective investment.
Mr Pritchard said he was taking legal advice about the Daily Telegraph’s report.
“The allegations made by the Telegraph are false – and I deny their claims,” he said.
