Albanians, including those in Britain, are increasingly concerned with the prospect of Albania being picked as the destruction site of Syrian chemical weapons.
Prior experience with poor oversight, as in the Gerdeci explosion of 2008, woefully inadequate regulatory measures, accidental death and mutilation of innocent citizens, and a highly complex and sensitive ecosystem does not qualify Albania to dismantle another country’s chemical weapons.
What is most worrisome is that Albania, given its present very small capacities and lack of rule of law in general, is not able to ensure the safety of its people and environment.
Please help us make our voice heard with international audience, as we are struggling to convince our government not to accept such a catastrophic burden for Albania’s future.
Yesterday, British Albanians have organised a protest in front of Albanian Embassy in London and it will be repeated again tomorrow, 15th November 2013, at 3pm.
