Walcot boxer Orgest Peroshi scored a sensational first-round knockout victory in the Western Counties Final of the CYP Championships in Bristol, writes Dave Veysey.
The 17-year-old made short work of Charlie Ricketts from Downend ABC in their Class C U69kgs, encounter.
From the opening bell, the Wroughton-based Albanian attacked the taller Ricketts with heavy left hooks, and after a couple of near misses, the third one caught Ricketts clean on the chin and dropped him to the canvas.
He bravely arose at the referee’s count of eight and attempted to fire back but Peroshi stepped in with another left hook and floored the Bristolian once more, leaving referee Mike Hemming to wave the fight off, with less than a minute of the contest having elapsed.
Peroshi said: “I have been training hard in the Walcot gym for this tournament and so far, it is going well – two knockouts in two contests.
“I feel strong and I can’t wait for the next round.”
Joining Peroshi in the next round is clubmate Said Eltuyev, also 17.
