Albanian artist Saimir Strati created a mosaic with coffee beans and yesterday entered the Guinness World Records as the world’s largest mosaic created in this way.

The mosaic which depicts five musicians: a Brazilian dancer, a Japanese drummer, a U.S. country music singer, a European accordionist and an African drummer, was created from 140kg (309 pounds)  of coffee beans of different colors depending of how much the beans were baked.

“I wanted to give the message that sharing love over a cup of coffee brings us closer, a cup of coffee brings us more love than a G20 meeting,” Strati told Reuters.

In order to qualify for Guinees World Record Strati had been required to work in public and the mosaic had to measure 25 square meters or 269 square feet.

Guinness judge Seyda Subasi Gemici said: “I can say all guidelines were met… And my final measure is 25.1 square meters.”

This is the sixth entry made by Mr Strati in the Guinness World Records using little objects to create images. He has used nails to create Da Vinci’s portrait, galloping horse with toothpicks, the Mediterranean with wine bottle corks , Michael Jackson with paint brushes and ancient poet Homer with industrial screws.
